Company Night Attacks - Best Practices from 7th Marines
Company Night Attacks are the new standard across the fleet with battalions on both coasts executing these as part of their MCCREs. As more and more units have successfully conducted company night attacks, data has been gathered, best practices recorded, and SOP's have been established to facilitate further training of this type. As complex events such as a company night attack become more normailzed, the expectation for units to conduct this type of training will only increase. Every battalion needs to be prepared to conduct company night attacks on their own.
Fortunately, some outstanding products have come out of 7th Marine Regiment that units on any home station can use to inform training of this type. Though these products are specific to Range 400, they make for a good template that can be adapted to any company day or night attack range. Among the products is a collection of useful considerations for running an event like this, sample timelines to facilitate a smooth training rotation, "Flat Ass" rules and a checklist for effective ROC walks, and a sample Corridor Note Sheet (to be used to record key events for the debrief). Attached are these excellent products, courtesy of the Ripper Regiment.
Prepare to March!

Retrans: Responses from the Community
From Gunner Tom Pieratti in response to “Leader’s Reconnaissance”
Leaders recon is an important venue that should occur. However, when enemy sit rep and time allow, should we not allocate resources like sUAS to validate the what’s next? Leveraging technology, when and where able, allows information dissemination to rapidly develop. It also allows units to execute branch plans and validate or preclude enemy situation. GOTWA has its place but integrating technology helps. KIS,S (yes the comma means something.)
From the Staff: We are highly interested in publishing lessons learned on SUAS employment at the Squad and Platoon Level. Please consider sharing with us if you have tried, failed and/or succeeded! CUAS AARs are welcome too.
